The Byers Water and Sanitation District is committed to providing clean and safe water for our community. We take pride in maintaining high-quality water and sanitation services while being open, transparent, and accessible to the people we serve. We believe in building strong relationships with our residents by keeping communication open, listening to concerns, and continuously improving our services.
The Byers Water and Sanitation District is making significant infrastructure improvements to enhance the community’s water system. This project, valued at approximately $4.5 million, has been largely funded through grants, with the district responsible for only about $600,000. By securing this funding, the district is able to make these essential improvements without placing a financial burden on residents, helping to keep water bill prices stable. These upgrades will benefit the entire community by improving infrastructure reliability, enhancing water availability, and ensuring a more efficient and resilient water system for years to come.
Below, we have also attached the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Byers Water and Sanitation District wastewater treatment plant. You can click the link to download the RFQ document. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
The Byers Water and Sanitation District is dedicated to improving the community’s water infrastructure and has partnered with Global Underground Corporation to enhance our water system. Together, we are installing new valves in existing pipes to allow for more localized shut-off areas in cases of leaks, repairs, or emergencies, minimizing disruptions to service. Additionally, we are upgrading the system with a new 12-inch water main to support future residential and commercial growth by increasing system capacity and reliability. A larger pipe main allows for a greater volume of fluid to flow through it at a time, meaning it can handle a higher demand for water or other liquids without experiencing significant pressure drops, particularly when multiple fixtures are used simultaneously. This upgrade will also provide better water quality, reduce maintenance issues, and strengthen the town’s infrastructure for long-term sustainability.
As part of these broader system upgrades, Global Underground is currently working near the highway, where they are digging a bore pit in preparation for installing a new 12-inch pipe beneath I-70. Using a specialized drilling technique called boring, they will create an underground pathway for the pipe, allowing installation without disrupting highway traffic. While this work may cause some temporary construction activity in the area, it is a critical step in improving our water system’s reliability and efficiency. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we invest in the long-term sustainability of Byers infrastructure.
Swedish Industrial has been assisting us in restoring and modernizing our water tanks to ensure long-term reliability and safety. Tanks 1 and 2 have already been completed and are fully operational. Most recently, work on Tank 3 has also been completed. This upgrade involved addressing significant issues, including nine holes, peeling patches, and interior rust and erosion. Swedish Industrial thoroughly washed and sandblasted the tank to remove rust, patched the holes, and recoated the interior to restore its structural integrity and functionality. These improvements demonstrate our ongoing commitment to delivering safe and dependable water services to the Byers community.
